In the video above I was using a simple nursery rhyme "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" to jazz up swingingly. I played some alternative melodies based on the scales to alter the original melody.

I also explained about the interchangeable tonality of minor and major. It's an interesting idea to reharmonize and tweak a simple tune into something more fun and challenging.

Some other application of major and minor would be in "LOVE" song by Nat King Cole. It's originally a major song in swing. Nevertheless to get more "emo" feel I also played it in minor progression with actually the same original melody. In minor "mode" he used Bossa Nova groove to have more laid back feel.

The interesting fact about jazz is you can take some song/tune and use it as raw material for your musical experiment, dismantle it and rebuild it again different way. People will still recognize the essence of the song, but now with your own rendition/interpretation.

And major/minor tonality is one of the fun tools you can play with.

Happy guitar playing and be playful!!! ;)
